WHY BOOKS ARE BETTER THAN MOVIES

WHY BOOKS ARE BETTER THAN MOVIES

Here we are again, Books versus Movies- the debate that never seems to go away. Book lovers claim the books are better than movies. Movie lovers claim movies are miles ahead.

As an avid reader and a custodian of the mystic arts of reading, I’m inclined to agree that books are superior than movies.

Before you believe that I just concluded out of the blue, how many times have you gone to the cinema to see the movie adaptation of a raving book only to be disappointed because the book was way better than the movie?

Books are better than movies, always have, always will be. Like birds to the sky, and fish to sea, It’s the natural order of things.

I’m a big fan of movies, and I think that they are a great source of entertainment.

My reason for concluding that books are better than movies stems from the fact that the world you create for yourself will always be better than the one someone else created for you.

It doesn’t matter if you’re reading alone or another person is reading to you, the moment you hear those words, your imagination goes to work, and your mind is open to endless possibilities.

Why books are better than movies

If you still doubt, here are four reasons why books are better than movies,

1. Imagination

Like I said before, there’s nothing quite like letting your emotions run wild. Different factors like budget, director, and even cast influence the direction of movies.

It places a considerable limit on the splendor of the movie.

On the other hand, your imagination can do amazing things, and books are better than movies, especially since all you need to satiate your imagination is a bunch of paper and the author’s keyboard.

2. Movies leave out a lot of details

Most movies have an average running time of 2hrs.

I don’t care how talented you are, you can fit every single detail into the movies, and in efforts to cut down running time, movie directors often leave out important information that may have contributed to the plot.

Another critical reason why books are better than movies every day of the week.

3. Portability

Unless you can carry a cinema around or have your phone charged 24/7 for Netflix, books take the win.

Again, showing why saying books are better than movies is factual. Wherever and whenever you are, you can quickly whip your book if you feel like reliving it again.

You can relieve the movie story, but you have to wait for electricity or Wi-Fi- where’s the fun in that.

4. Movies ruin books

Finally, and probably my most significant reason for concluding that books are better than movies. Movies tend to under perform scenes from books they adapt.

Whether it’s poor casting, to lackluster scoring, or downright shitty directing, movies don’t do any favors when it comes to adapting books.

There are exceptions, but if I had to choose between gambling if a movie would impress or reading it from a book. I’ll pick a book every time.

While this takes nothing away from movies; some of them are indeed very nice, the fact remains that reading a book means you see through your lens while in movies, all you do is watch how a filmmaker thinks the movie should go.

In the end, for me, it’s not even worth debating. Books are better than movies.
